The Council of the European Union today appointed Carlo Alberto Manfredi Selvaggi, from Italy, to serve as a Member of the European Court of Auditors (ECA).

Mr Manfredi Selvaggi has served at the Italian Court of Auditors since 1997, as Substitute Prosecutor-General until 2005, Deputy Prosecutor-General until 2021, and Chamber President since 2021. He has been the coordinator of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan mission structure at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers since May 2023. Mr Manfredi Selvaggi was appointed as an ECA Member for the period from 1 May 2024 to 30 April 2030, replacing Mr Pietro Russo.

The Council takes its decisions on the basis of proposals by the Member States and after consulting the European Parliament.

The Treaty requires the Members to perform their duties in complete independence and in the general interest of the European Union.

The ECA’s organisation chart and governance structure are available on its website (eca.europa.eu), and will be updated in due course.
