The Council of the European Union today appointed a new Slovenian Member of the European Court of Auditors (ECA). It also renewed the mandates of three current ECA Members, from Czechia, Latvia and Poland.
Mr Jorg Kristijan Petrovič, who has been a Member of the Court of Audit of the Republic of Slovenia since February 2013, has been appointed as an ECA Member for the period from 7 May 2022 to 6 May 2028, replacing Mr Samo Jereb.
The Council also reappointed three ECA Members for a second mandate:
- Mr Jan Gregor (the Czech Republic)
- Mr Mihails Kozlovs (Latvia)
- Mr Marek Opioła (Poland)
The Treaty requires the Members to perform their duties in complete independence and in the general interest of the European Union.
The Council takes its decisions on the basis of proposals by the Member States and after consulting the European Parliament.
The ECA's organisation chart and governance structure are available on its website (eca.europa.eu) and will be updated in due course.

The European Court of Auditors is the EU's independent audit institution. Its audit reports and opinions are an essential element of the EU's accountability chain, and are used to hold to account those responsible for managing the EU's budget and implementing EU policies.
