The EU customs union has become the world’s largest trading bloc. Our reports have focused both on the physical infrastructure that facilitates EU trade with the rest of the world and on the financial procedures that underpin it.
As the EU’s auditors, we also look ahead in order to help address key challenges facing the EU in future. International rules, free trade and multilateralism are core EU principles. New economic dynamics may mean that the EU will need to adjust its trade relations, further promote its core values in its trade partnerships, and become more competitive in the world economy or risk a decrease in foreign trade.
We will keep all these factors in mind when selecting our audit tasks and formulating recommendations for the future.
