EU action against hunger in Sub-Saharan Africa
This audit report will offer insights on to guide the EU’s future approach to fighting hunger in one of the poorest regions of the world.
A new special report from the European Court of Auditors (ECA), to be published by the end of 2025, takes a close look at how the EU supports the fight against hunger in sub Saharan Africa. With significant resources invested since 2014, amounting to around €11 billion, the audit examines whether EU action is well targeted, aligned with the most urgent priorities, and implemented effectively. Debate: How can transparency in the EU be improved?
A conference will explore how to improve transparency requirements for lobbyists and EU-funded NGOs.
On 20 October, the European Court of Auditors (ECA) is holding a conference on transparency. This event will build upon our recent audit reports on the transparency of EU funding for non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and on the EU transparency register for lobbyists wishing to influence EU policymaking. These reports have highlighted notable challenges and opportunities related to enhancing transparency and accountability in EU policymaking and funding processes. The conference will provide an opportunity for senior representatives from EU institutions, relevant stakeholders, experts, practitioners, and civil society organisations to exchange perspectives and discuss strategies to advance these crucial topics. A lifetime in public sector auditing
Tony Murphy was confirmed for a second mandate at the helm of the European Court of Auditors, serving until 2028.
Having recently been re‑elected by his peers for a second three‑year term as President of the European Court of Auditors (ECA), 63-year-old Irishman Tony Murphy will continue in a role he's well acquainted with. His path to the presidency has not been a typical one. It is a journey that began when Mr Murphy was still a teenager, and represents a career fully devoted to public‑sector auditing. (READ MORE)
