On Thursday 8 September, the European Court of Auditors (ECA) will publish a special report on the Commission's process for assessing the national recovery and resilience plans.
ABOUT THE TOPIC
The Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) was established in 2021 to mitigate the economic and social impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. To receive a share of the over €700 billion in EU financial support available under the RRF, Member States have to submit national recovery and resilience plans, which are examined by the European Commission.
ABOUT THE AUDIT
The auditors verified whether the assessment process and guidance to Member States was managed effectively, ensured that the recovery and resilience plans are relevant to address the objectives of the Recovery and Resilience Facility and that they are compliant with the conditions defined in the Recovery and Resilience Facility regulation.
This audit is the first in a series on the Recovery and Resilience Facility, one of the ECA's priorities to address the EU's response to the COVID-19 pandemic across various policy dimensions, including economic governance.
